GVA Grimley moves into eagerly awaited office development

24 Apr 2009

GVA Grimley has become the first occupier of Clifton’s newest office building. The firm of commercial property advisers has taken two floors of St Catherine’s Court, Berkeley Place, and has now moved in following practical completion of the new development.

The 31,000 sq ft St Catherine’s Court has been developed by Ashfield Land, and is the first new office development in Clifton for twenty years. The £15 million grade A building on the Clifton Triangle has already been awarded the first BREEAM “Excellent” environmental rating in Clifton.

“This is a significant move for GVA Grimley in Bristol,” says David Mace, regional senior director. “As well as providing additional space for future growth, we are upgrading our facilities to give us improved visitor and staff areas, meeting rooms and a marketing suite for client events and seminars.

“Clifton is the hub of Bristol’s commercial property sector and it is important for us to remain in this location,” he continues. “Without doubt St Catherine’s Court is the best office building in Clifton and leads the way in terms of specification and sustainability, which fits perfectly with our corporate strategy. For us, it is the ideal location to carry out business effectively throughout the South West.”

GVA Grimley is leasing 10,500 sq ft of space at St Catherine’s Court having relocated from University Gate, Park Row. The remaining 20,500 sq ft is now being actively marketed.

GVA Grimley is one of the UK’s leading firms of property consultants operating from 12 offices throughout the country. The company merged with Osmond Tricks in Bristol three years ago to provide one of the most comprehensive and in-depth ranges of property services in the south west, including office, industrial and retail agency, planning and regeneration, rating, building consultancy, management and valuation consultancy; the company’s national primary healthcare consultancy team is also based here.

Paul Jagroop, director of Ashfield Land comments, “We are delighted to have reached completion at St Catherine’s Court after nearly two years of work on this challenging site and to welcome our first tenant into the building. Its real aesthetic beauty is now being revealed showcasing some stunning detailing and views that define this development from the usual office schemes. The standards we are creating will provide a quality, contemporary working space for all its tenants.”

He continues: “St Catherine’s court is a fantastic example of a modern office. It has the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating that occupiers, particularly from the public sector, are demanding, as well as a high quality internal specification and parking. Clifton has long been regarded as a choice location in the Bristol area and now it has an office worthy of the address.”

The fit-out of GVA Grimley’s offices has been carried out by Bristol interior design company Utopia.
